HDFC Life approves Vibha Padalkar’s re-appointment as CEO & Managing Director – News Air Insight

HDFC Life on Tuesday said its board has approved the reappointment of Vibha Padalkar as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a further term of five years starting September 12, 2026, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.

The decision was taken at the company’s board meeting held on April 21, the insurer said in an exchange filing, adding that approvals from shareholders at the upcoming annual general meeting and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India are pending.

The reappointment ensures leadership continuity at a time when the life insurance sector is navigating evolving regulatory and market dynamics.

The company also confirmed that Padalkar has not been debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority.

Who is Vibha Padalkar?

Padalkar currently serves as MD and CEO of HDFC Life and has been with the company since 2008. Over the years, she has held multiple leadership roles and played a key part in strengthening its financial framework.


She was instrumental in the company’s public listing in 2017 and later led its merger and acquisition transaction: considered a milestone in India’s life insurance sector.

Under her leadership, the insurer has delivered consistent performance with a focus on disciplined execution and sustainable growth.A chartered accountant by training, Padalkar is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. She has also been associated with several industry initiatives, including serving on the executive committee of the Life Insurance Council.
