India’s benchmark equity indices closed higher on Friday, gaining around half a per cent, as cheer over the recent US interest rate cut was partly offset by lingering uncertainty surrounding the US-India trade deal and continued weakness in the rupee. The Nifty settled at 26,046.95, up 148.40 points or 0.6%, while the Sensex rose 449.53 points, or 0.5%, to end at 85,267.66.
