Canara Bank(up 1.75 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.72 per cent) and Punjab National Bank(up 0.05 per cent) were among the top gainers.
ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 2.53 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.94 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.96 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 0.9 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.88 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 1.28 per cent at 53672.2 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 264.05 points at 24009.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 805.23 points at 79529.58.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red. Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, BEL and Union Bank India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Stampede Cap(DVR), Reliance Naval & Engg, KPR Mill, ARSS Infra and Cura Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Motor Gen Fin, Hilton Metal, Selan Expl Tech, Gujarat Lease and One Mobikwik Systems hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
