The IT sector has emerged as one of the worst-performing sectors over the past year, weighed down by heavy selling from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). An analysis of the BSE Information Technology index shows that overseas investors have pared their holdings in 49 stocks, or about 64% of the constituents, since the December quarter of CY24. However, FIIs have continued to back select names, raising their stakes in 27 stocks (36%) over the period ended September 30, 2025.
