The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor’s priority segment was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
He also signaled the departure of the RapidX train this morning, now known as the “NaMo Bharat,” which runs between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.
Customers can board the 17-kilometer priority section of the nation’s first semi-high-speed regional train service on Saturday at 6:00am.
RAPIDX would launch its entire Delhi-Meerut network by 2025.On the other side, it is anticipated that by 2025, the whole 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut RAPIDX network will be operating.
The route takes around an hour to complete once it is operating.
It has 24 stations, five of which—Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot—are situated along the 17-kilometer priority segment.
Notably, the project cost Rs. 30,274 crore to complete.
The 4/10 RRTS Corridor seeks to shorten travel distances.The RRTS Corridor’s objective is to cut down on travel time between Delhi and important NCR cities, enabling residents of other cities to get to work without difficulty.
The RAPIDX trains will have six coaches, including one luxury coach with reclining seats and more foot space, and four ordinary coaches.
Unique characteristics that set RAPIDX trains apart
The trains will also be able to accommodate 407 passengers in seats and an extra 1,061 people standing.
The coaches will have 2×2 seats with overhead luggage racks, on-board Wi-Fi, charging connections for each seat, public address and display technology, a dynamic route map display, a specific place for wheelchairs, and an emergency alarm system.
Every RAPIDX stop has a first aid station.
First aid facilities will be available at every RAPIDX station.
Through Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS), ambulance services can be summoned in the event of any medical emergency.
Each station provides drinking water and facilities on the paid portion of the concourse level, as well as a diaper-changing station in the women’s restroom.
