Kerala Congress Praises Tharoor’s Global Role
The Kerala Congress has expressed strong support for Shashi Tharoor’s appointment in a diplomatic initiative, stating that India urgently needs a “trusted representative at the global level.” In a post on X, the party remarked, “At a time when Prime Minister Modi and his External Affairs Minister have lost credibility internationally, the nation needs a voice that commands respect.” They also thanked the central government for acknowledging the leadership vacuum within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and choosing Tharoor for this significant role.
India’s Diplomatic Offensive Against Pakistan
The Indian government is reportedly launching a major diplomatic mission aimed at exposing Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism. As part of this initiative, around 40 Members of Parliament — including Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Salman Khurshid, and Amar Singh — will be deployed across various countries. These MPs will be divided into seven regional groups, each visiting four to five nations over a 10-day period, beginning around May 22–23. Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will accompany the delegations.
Multi-Party Delegation to Lead Outreach
The delegation includes representatives from several political parties. Notable members are BJP’s Anurag Thakur and Aparajita Sarangi, TMC’s Sudip Bandyopadhyay, JDU’s Sanjay Jha, BJD’s Sasmit Patra, NCP-SP’s Supriya Sule, DMK’s Kanimozhi, CPI(M)’s John Brittas, and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi. A senior leader from one of these parties revealed that participants were asked to prepare for the overseas mission by May 22, with final instructions expected soon from the MEA.
MEA Compiling Evidence for International Diplomacy
The Ministry of External Affairs is currently assembling factual dossiers and case evidence to support India’s allegations against Pakistan. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh confirmed that Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had already discussed the initiative with Congress leadership. While no formal government announcement has been made yet, sources indicate that discussions are actively underway to finalize this major diplomatic outreach.
