Telangana's freshly nominated 11 ministers include a Dalit deputy chief minister and an ex-Naxalite.
Telangana’s chief minister, Anumula Revanth Reddy, 54, a Congress leader, took the oath of office on Thursday.
Reddy and the other eleven newly elected MLAs were given the oath of office by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. At least one lakh people attended the function.
Danasari Anusuya, a tribal person and former Naxalite, was promoted to the rank of minister, while Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka became the first Dalit deputy chief minister in the state.

Why is this story important?
In Telangana, the Congress won 64 out of 119 seats in the state assembly elections, unseating the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which had ruled the state since its formation in 2014.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was reduced to eight seats and the BRS to 39 seats by the Congress.
Six positions in the council of ministers remain after it is claimed that the Telangana Cabinet can contain up to 18 ministers, including the chief minister and his deputy.

Congress seeks to equalize representation for communities.
A varied mix of MPs, including women ministers Konda Surekha and Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, make up the new Cabinet.
Three other Reddys, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, are also members of the cabinet in addition to CM Reddy.
The Scheduled Castes are represented by Damodar Raja Narasimha, while the Other Backward Classes (OBC) are represented by Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha.
The Brahmin community is represented by Sridhar Babu, the Kamma community by Nageshwara Rao, and the Velama community by Juppally Krishna Rao.

Congress is said to have been revived in Telangana by Vikramarka.
Vikramarka, who was elected four times from the Khammam district’s Madhira constituency, has been assigned the revenue portfolio.
He is recognized for having revived Congress in the state after marching 1,400 kilometers through 36 constituencies.
The home minister is none other than N Uttam Kumar Reddy, a six-time MLA and former pilot in the Indian Air Force.
From 2015 to 2021, he led the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee for six years.

resurrected ministers in the council
The portfolio for roads and buildings was given to Thummala Nageswara Rao, a former leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Prior to joining the Congress, he was the minister for buildings and roads in the previous cabinet of K Chandrashekar Rao.
Under him lies the portfolio of urban development and municipal administration. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is an MP from Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha seat and a five-time MLA from Nalgonda.
Under YS Rajshekhar Reddy, the father of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he served as the minister of information technology.

Which portfolio was won by whom?
The health minister is none other than three-time MLA C Damodar Raja Narasimha. Prior to the state’s split in 2014, he served as the deputy chief minister of an undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2011.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has been assigned the irrigation ministry, and Babu has been appointed finance minister.
The ministry of civil supplies has been entrusted to Jupally Krishna Rao, and the new minister of welfare for the Backward Classes is Ponnam Prabhakar.
