Originally planned for May 2025, the move was postponed to allow customers to upgrade their gadgets.

WhatsApp to Stop Support for Older iPhone and Android Models: What You Need to Know
Starting tomorrow, WhatsApp will no longer be supported on several older iPhone and Android devices. This move is part of WhatsApp’s effort to maintain compatibility with newer operating systems and provide a secure and efficient user experience.
Affected iPhone Models
If you’re using one of the following Apple devices, WhatsApp will no longer work on your phone:
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6
iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone SE (1st Generation)
These models no longer support the latest iOS updates required to run the newest version of WhatsApp.
Affected Android Models
Several Android smartphones are also on the list of unsupported devices. These include:
Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Sony Xperia Z1
LG G2
Huawei Ascend P6
Moto G (1st Generation)
Motorola Razr HD
Moto E (2014)
Like the iPhones listed above, these Android devices cannot be updated to the latest operating systems, making them incompatible with the new version of WhatsApp.
How to Transition Smoothly
If your device is on the list, don’t worry—you can still save your data before making the switch.
Back Up Your Chats Before Switching
To ensure you don’t lose important conversations, WhatsApp recommends backing up your chat history. Here’s how to do it:
Open WhatsApp
Go to Settings
Tap on Chats
Select Chat Backup
This backup can be saved to your Google account (for Android users) or iCloud (for iPhone users), allowing you to easily transfer your chat history to a new device.
Time to Upgrade
If you’re still using one of these older models, it’s time to consider upgrading your smartphone. Using the latest version of WhatsApp not only gives you access to new features, but also ensures your conversations remain secure and supported.
