Independence Day 2025
Both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are closed for all forms of trading, including equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB), as part of the scheduled market holiday calendar. With trading paused, investors will have to wait until Monday, August 18, 2025, for market activity to resume.
Major commodity trading platforms are also observing a full-day closure. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain shut for both morning and evening sessions, suspending trades in bullion, energy, and other commodities. The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), India’s largest agri-commodity exchange, is also closed, pausing trades in agricultural products such as oilseeds, pulses, and spices.
The closure gives market participants a long weekend, but traders will be watching for potential volatility when markets reopen, as positions and strategies are adjusted post-holiday.
