At 9:26 am, the BSE Sensex was up 103 points, or 0.13%, at 80,707, while the Nifty50 rose 33 points, or 0.13%, to 24,619
From the Sensex pack, ICICI Bank, BEL, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Trent opened with losses, while M&M, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, and L&T started the day in positive territory.
Meanwhile, US consumer price data, due later in the day, is expected to influence the Federal Reserve’s rate-cut trajectory, with markets pricing in around a 90% probability of easing in September and at least one more cut by year-end.
Additionally, investors are eyeing domestic retail inflation data, scheduled for release after market hours on Tuesday.
On the sectoral front, Nifty IT rose 0.8%, driven by gains in Coforge, Persistent, and Mphasis. Nifty Auto, Metal, Media, PSU Bank, and Oil & Gas indices also opened higher.Among individual stocks, Praj Industries slumped nearly 9% after reporting a 93.7% year-on-year drop in consolidated profit after tax to Rs 5.34 crore for Q1FY26, compared to Rs 84.18 crore in the same quarter last year.
