Other notable changes include the 2GB/day plan, which will rise from Rs 299 to Rs 349, and the 3GB/day plan, increasing from Rs 399 to Rs 449. The 1.5GB/day plan for 56 days will now cost Rs 579, up from Rs 479, while the 2GB/day plan for the same duration will be priced at Rs 629, up from Rs 533.
The 84-day plans are also seeing hikes. The plan providing 6GB of data will increase from Rs 395 to Rs 479. For those who need more data, the 1.5GB/day plan will go from Rs 666 to Rs 799, the 2GB/day plan from Rs 719 to Rs 859, and the 3GB/day plan from Rs 999 to Rs 1199. The yearly plan with 24GB of data will now cost Rs 1899, up from Rs 1559, and the 2.5GB/day plan for 365 days will rise from Rs 2999 to Rs 3599.
Data add-on plans are also impacted. The 1GB data add-on will now cost Rs 19, up from Rs 15. The 2GB data add-on will be Rs 29, up from Rs 25, and the 6GB data add-on will increase from Rs 61 to Rs 69.
Postpaid plans are not exempt from these hikes. The Rs 299 plan, which included 30GB of data, will now be priced at Rs 349. Similarly, the Rs 399 plan, which offered 75GB of data, will now cost Rs 449.
In addition to these pricing changes, Reliance Jio is launching two new applications: JioSafe and JioTranslate. JioSafe is a quantum-secure communication app designed for secure calling, messaging, and file transfers. It will be priced at Rs 199 per month after the first year of free access for Jio users. JioTranslate is an AI-powered multilingual communication app that offers translation services for voice calls, messages, text, and images. This app will be priced at Rs 99 per month after the initial free year.
Akash M Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, emphasized the company’s commitment to driving industry innovation and sustainable growth through significant investments in 5G and AI technology. He stated, “High-quality, affordable internet is essential for Digital India, and Jio is proud to contribute to this vision. We will continue to prioritize our country and customers by investing in India.”
These changes come on the back of a strong financial performance by Reliance Jio. In the fourth quarter, the company’s revenue from operations saw an 11% increase, reaching Rs 25,959 crore. This growth underscores the company’s expanding influence and continuous investment in technology and services.
With these new tariffs and the introduction of advanced applications like JioSafe and JioTranslate, Jio aims to enhance its service offerings and maintain its leadership position in the telecom industry. The price hikes reflect the company’s strategy to support its ongoing investments in cutting-edge technology while still providing value to its vast customer base. The free one-year access to the new applications also highlights Jio’s commitment to enhancing the user experience through innovative solutions.
Overall, these developments signal Jio’s intent to stay at the forefront of the telecom industry by continually evolving its product offerings and investing in future technologies. While customers may feel the impact of the price hikes, the introduction of new, advanced applications aims to provide additional value and ensure that Jio remains a key player in India’s digital transformation journey.
