Heavy Rains Trigger Flood Alerts in Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand

Over 250 Roads Blocked in Himachal Pradesh

Continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to severe disruptions across the state. More than 250 roads have been blocked due to cloudbursts and landslides, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre.

In response to safety concerns, all educational institutions in Mandi district were shut on Tuesday. Schools in Kangra, Sirmaur, and Solan districts were also closed.

The heavy downpour has caused further infrastructural damage, with 614 power transformers and 130 water supply schemes affected across the state.


Orange Alert Issued for Multiple Districts in Uttarakhand

Neighboring Uttarakhand is also facing intense weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts.

Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue, prompting high alert across the region. As a precaution, schools in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi have been closed.


Ganga River Near Warning Mark in Rishikesh

In Rishikesh, the Ganga River is currently flowing just below the warning mark of 1.38cm. Authorities, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police, have issued safety advisories to residents in sensitive areas.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Dehradun has issued a red alert for Dehradun, Uttarkashi, and Tehri Garhwal districts due to expected thunderstorms and squalls.


Highway Blocked at Two Locations in Uttarkashi

The Yamunotri National Highway has been blocked at two points following landslides and road washouts. Uttarkashi Superintendent of Police Sarita Dobhal personally inspected the affected areas on Monday.

Heavy rains have also disrupted power and water supplies in Tehri Garhwal, adding to the region’s woes. Officials have strongly advised residents in vulnerable zones to stay indoors and cooperate with rescue teams amid forecasts of continued rainfall.
