For what reason does this story matter?
Manipur has been entangled in ethnic brutality since May 2023 after an Ancestral Fortitude Walk was coordinated in the slope regions to fight the Meiteis’ interest for Booked Clan (ST) status.
The Meiteis — who make up 53% of the populace — are to a great extent restricted to the Imphal Valley.
In examination, ancestral overwhelmed slope regions supposedly cover 90% of Manipur.
Relocation from Bangladesh and Myanmar has intensified the issue in Imphal.
This has driven Meiteis to request ST status to approach tribals’ territories.
