Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the 2024 Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill and the 2024 Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill.
198 MPs voted against the legislation, while 269 MPs supported their introduction.

Resistance groups reprimand ‘One Country, One Political race’ bills
The presentation of the bills was reprimanded by resistance groups, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), and Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Congress MP Manish Tewari contended that these bills “attack the Constitution’s fundamental construction precept.”
SP MP Dharmendra Yadav called it an endeavor by the Bharatiya Janata Party to present a “fascism.”
