Anshul Saigal, Founder, Saigal Capital, shared his perspective on the current market environment:
“This is a phase where the markets are boring, no one has interest. After two to three years of strength, markets are flattish overall, and below the frontline index, you see substantial corrections. This is a time to build a strong portfolio, buy into quality companies, and have belief in Indian patience and growth. Weak hands are going out, and over the next three to five years, there will be tremendous money to be made.”
On finding value in a widely discovered market, Saigal added:
“Markets move in waves, and opportunities shift. For instance, some new-age IT companies fell 60-70% in 2022, while PSU banks doubled or tripled. Value retail and footwear sectors have been flat or down for years, but with rural incomes improving and GST supporting consumption, these pockets look interesting. If you look beyond short-term weakness, there is tremendous money to be made.”
Saigal’s observations underscore a key message for investors: patience and long-term conviction are essential in navigating a consolidating market. Those willing to look beyond short-term volatility may find this phase an opportunity in disguise.
