Charlie Kirk Shooting: Chris Pratt, Savannah Chrisley, Jimmy Kimmel and More React
Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show is taking a break.
An ABC spokesperson confirmed to NBC News Sept. 17 that Jimmy Kimmel Live! “will be pre-empted indefinitely” following the late night host’s Sept. 15 monologue, which included comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer.
“The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said on the show, “and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Tyler Robinson, 22, was taken into custody Sept. 12 after authorities said he turned himself in. He was then charged with aggravated murder over the fatal shooting of Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University Sept. 10. Since his arrest, authorities released alleged text messages from Robinson in which he said he targeted Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred.”
In a Sept. 17 interview, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr described Kimmel’s monologue as “the sickest conduct possible” and threatened to “take action” against ABC and its parent company Disney, noting that the FCC had the authority to revoke ABC affiliate licenses.
