Leaked Images Offer First Look Inside iPhone 17 Pro Max
Shared by account ‘yeux1122’ on Korean site Naver last week, showed leaked internal design photos that indicate that Apple is alledegedly going forward with a metal-clad battery for its next-gen Pro Max model, according to a report by Macrumors. Though it remains to be seen whether these images are real or just built on current rumors as the account aggregates Apple rumors and leaks, so it is likely not the original source of the images, as reported by Macrumors.

Metal-Clad Battery
If true, the leak supports earlier assertions that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a metal-encased battery to improve heat dissipation, a step above the black foil-covered batteries used in some iPhone 16 models, according to the report. Apple has already begun using the metal battery design in the iPhone 16 Pro, but to roll it out to the larger Pro Max would be a more sweeping change in thermal management across the range, as per the Macrumors report.

Two Battery Shapes Hint at Regional Variants
Interestingly, the leak also reveals two versions of the battery, with the L-shaped one which is expected to be used in iPhone 17 Pro models that still have a physical SIM card slot, according to the report. Easier Battery Removal Could Be Coming
Meanwhile, the batteries in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus use a type of adhesive that can be loosened with low-voltage electrical current, from a 9V battery or another power source, as reported by Macrumours. Another leaker, who is known as “Majin Bu” has projected that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max batteries will also be removable in the same manner, as per the report.
