In Chhattigarh, Rahul Gandhi takes aim at the BJP over farmer loans.
On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised to waive farmers’ loans in Chhattisgarh again if his party wins the upcoming assembly elections.
The Gandhi scion was in Kanker campaigning ahead of the assembly elections.
Gandhi also promised that if the Congress won the election, it would conduct a caste-based census, accusing the government of being afraid to do so.

Gandhi takes aim at the BJP over farmer loans.
Gandhi claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has waived over Rs. 14 lakh crores in loans for industrialists.
He claimed that the Congress waived thousands of crores in loans in its first decision after winning the 2018 assembly elections.
He also stated that Rs. 23,000 crore was distributed to 26 lakh farmers, with each receiving Rs. 7,000.

Elections to the Chhattisgarh Assembly
The assembly elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in two stages between November 7 and November 17. The results will be released on December 3.
The state is currently governed by  Congress-led administration led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
The current assembly’s tenure, which has 90 members, will end on January 3, 2024. On Sunday, Gandhi will hold rallies in the Rajnandgaon and Kawardha constituencies.

The first list of candidates is released by Congress.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Baghel will run from Patan, while Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo will run from Ambikapur, his stronghold.
There are 33 Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, 29 Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates, 10 Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 15 general candidates, and three minorities among the 90 candidates.
Women were also given fourteen tickets.
