Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) shares surged over 16% to Rs 2,289.60 on BSE on Wednesday after the state-run shipyard reported its highest-ever annual turnover of Rs 6,400 crore for FY 2025-26, a 26% jump from Rs 5,076 crore in the previous fiscal year.

The provisional and unaudited results cap a landmark year that saw GRSE deliver eight vessels to the Indian Navy, the most in a single fiscal, including two Project 17A frigates, two Survey Vessel Large ships and four Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts.

In a notable feat, the shipyard simultaneously delivered three warships—Dunagiri, Sanshodhak, and Agray—to the Indian Navy on the same day during FY 2025-26.

The year also marked critical naval commissioning milestones, with five vessels entering active service: INS Himgiri, the first Project 17A Advanced Frigate; INS Ikshak, the third Survey Vessel (Large); and the first three Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts—INS Arnala, INS Androth, and INS Anjadip, the company said in a press release.

GRSE said it is “in the advanced stages of concluding a prestigious contract for the construction of five Next Generation Corvettes,” signaling continued order book expansion.

Beyond naval construction, the shipyard has diversified into specialized platforms, including Acoustic, Coastal, and Ocean Research Ships, Hybrid Ferries, and commercial vessels. It has achieved “significant progress in the construction of 12 export vessels for a German client, as well as a Dredger for a friendly foreign country,” GRSE said.

In a first for India’s defense sector, GRSE launched a Modular Foot Suspension Bridge during the year—”a fully indigenous structure designed to span up to 400 feet without the requirement of piers.” The shipyard delivered seven 30mm Naval Surface Gun systems to the Indian Navy and executed multiple refit projects.GRSE “continues to remain the only Defence Public Sector Shipyard engaged in the manufacture of prefabricated steel bridges,” the company noted.

The shipyard strengthened its technological edge through the inauguration of a Next Generation Virtual Reality Lab and strategic partnerships with Hindustan Shipyard Ltd., K2 Cranes & Components Pvt. Ltd., Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd., SWAN Defence & Heavy Industries Ltd. and Reintjes GmbH, Germany.
