Ghaziabad: Police arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 40-year-old woman after he threatened to make objectionable pictures and videos of her 20-year-old daughter viral, officials said on Wednesday. The accused was arrested on Tuesday.

After a complaint by the woman’s husband, an FIR was lodged at Muradnagar police station on March 18 under BNS sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation).
Police said that a day before the incident, the accused showed her the videos and pictures of her daughter, with whom he was known and threatened to make them viral.
“There was an ongoing dispute between the two families.After seeing the pictures and videos, the woman went to the suspect’s house to complain, but was turned away and felt humiliated. Later that night, she died by suicide in her house,” Ankit Kumar, SHO of Muradnagar police station, told HT.
In the FIR, the victim’s husband said he found her wife crying around 2am on March 18.
“I told her that I will look into the matter in the morning and made her sleep. Around 5:30 a.m., my daughter came running to me and told me that her mother had died,” the FIR read.
Police were informed about the incident soon after the suicide, the same day and the body was sent for an autopsy.
The husband also stated in the FIR that he came across seven videos in which his wife narrated the humiliation and problems faced due to the pictures and videos.
