On inflation, Kashkari said it is unlikely to rise to 4–5%, based on calculations of how tariff rates impact prices. He highlighted that the main concern is inflation persistence, where it may remain around 3% for an extended period rather than spike suddenly. The Fed targets 2% inflation, while in August the rate measured 2.7% by the Fed’s preferred gauge.
