Farmers Protest in Delhi: Traffic Advisory and Routes to Avoid
Farmers from various organizations, including the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), are set to march to Delhi on December 2 to demand compensation and benefits under newly implemented agricultural laws. The protest is expected to begin at noon from under the Maha Maya flyover in Noida, with a large contingent led by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa.
Authorities in Noida have issued a traffic advisory to manage potential congestion and ensure smooth movement for commuters. To minimize disruption, the Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have set up barriers at major borders and implemented strict traffic checks. Key routes leading to Delhi will experience diversions, and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
Heavy vehicles, including goods carriers, will not be allowed entry into Delhi from major routes like the Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and Surajpur. This measure is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and allowing a smoother flow of passenger vehicles.
For those traveling to or from Delhi, alternate routes have been suggested to avoid disruptions. Vehicles heading from the Chilla Border to Greater Noida can take the Sector 14-A flyover and proceed via Golchakkar in Sector-15, continuing through Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk and Jhunjhupura Chowk. Travelers using the DND Border can utilize the Film City flyover and access Sector-18 before proceeding on the Elevated Road to Delhi.
For those approaching Delhi from the Kalindi Border, the advised route is via the Mahamaya flyover and Sector-37. Residents of Greater Noida heading towards Delhi can opt for the Charkha Golchakkar and Kalindi Kunj route. Similarly, vehicles traveling to Delhi through Sector-51 should use the Hajipur underpass and proceed via Model Town and Kalindi Kunj. Those traveling along the Yamuna Expressway are encouraged to exit at Jewar toll and take the Khurja route through Jahangirpur to reach their destination. For vehicles on the Peripheral Expressway, the recommended exit points are Dadri or Dasna instead of Sirska.
To further ease commuter woes, Noida authorities have suggested the use of Delhi Metro as the most efficient mode of transport during the protest. The metro offers a reliable and fast alternative, helping avoid delays caused by road diversions and traffic checks.
Real-time updates on traffic conditions and diversions are being provided by the authorities, and commuters are encouraged to stay informed. A traffic helpline has been set up at 9971009001 for assistance, ensuring that travelers can seek help or clarification on the best routes to take during the protest.
Emergency vehicles will be given priority throughout the protest, with designated pathways to ensure they can reach their destinations without hindrance. The focus remains on balancing the needs of the protesters with those of daily commuters, aiming to minimize inconvenience for all.
Farmers’ protests in the region are not new and often draw attention to issues faced by the agricultural community. This march aims to highlight demands for compensation under the new farm laws and has mobilized significant participation from various groups. Authorities have assured the public that adequate measures are in place to maintain law and order while facilitating peaceful demonstrations.
As the protest progresses, it serves as a reminder of the ongoing dialogue between the government and the agricultural sector. While the immediate impact is on traffic, the broader implications of such movements lie in their ability to bring focus to critical issues that shape the nation’s agricultural policies.
In the meantime, commuters are urged to remain patient, follow the suggested routes, and rely on public transportation wherever possible. With cooperative efforts from both authorities and the public, the protest can proceed without causing undue disruption.
