Visibility has been severely affected by the heavy fog, which has an impact on aviation, rail, and road services.
Flight delays resulted from Delhi recording at least zero visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at night, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Reports state that on Wednesday, 23 trains were running late and more than 50 planes were delayed.
Why is this story important?
Train and flight services were severely disrupted in Delhi and other parts of North India earlier in January due to thick fog.
The extreme deferrals and claimed blunder by the air terminal specialists and carriers exacerbated the traveler misfortunes.
Standard operating procedures for airlines were issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as a result of this.
Delhi air terminal issues warning
Considering the thick haze conditions, the Delhi air terminal has given a warning for travelers.
The warning cautioned of likely disturbances for flights that are not “Feline III consistent.”
An anti-fog landing system called CAT III makes it easier for aircraft to land in low-visibility conditions. It makes it possible for planes to land with as little as 50 meters of visibility.
“For updated flight information, passengers are requested to contact the airline in question.” The advisory stated, “We deeply regret any inconvenience caused.”
Thick haze likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh
In the mean time, the IMD has estimate thick to exceptionally thick haze conditions in disconnected pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from Wednesday to Friday.
Thick to extremely thick haze is additionally anticipated in east Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday, and in West Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, the IMD said.
On Wednesday, the weather office also predicted dense fog conditions over north Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, and Bihar, as well as isolated parts of Odisha from Wednesday to Friday.
Additionally, the IMD has predicted that two western disturbances could quickly affect northwest India.
It said that Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand would see light to moderately widespread precipitation or snowfall until Sunday.
Disengaged weighty precipitation or snowfall is normal in the Kashmir Valley and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday, and in Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
Rainfall is also likely to fall in West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, and the majority of northeastern states.
