In a shocking turn of events, the investigation into the alleged acid attack on a 19-year-old Delhi University student has taken a completely new direction. Delhi Police have arrested the girl’s father, identified as Akil Khan, for allegedly sexually assaulting the wife of one of the men the girl had accused of stalking her, and for later fabricating the acid attack case to frame him.

How the Delhi ‘Acid Attack’ Story Took a Dramatic Turn

The case, which initially appeared to be yet another horrific acid attack on a young woman, has now turned into a case of deception and revenge. Police said Khan confessed to staging the acid attack narrative after the woman he had allegedly assaulted filed a police complaint against him.

“He (Akil Khan) admitted that he made up the acid attack story because the woman had filed a harassment complaint. To get back at her, he wanted to implicate her husband in the acid attack case,” police officials revealed.

Sexual Assault and Blackmail Complaint Exposed the Lie

Just two days before the alleged acid attack, the woman, wife of one of the supposed suspects, had made a PCR call to the police, accusing Khan of harassment, sexual assault, and blackmail.

According to her complaint, she worked at Khan’s factory between 2021 and 2024, during which he sexually harassed her, forced physical relations, and blackmailed her with objectionable photos and videos.

This prompted the police to dig deeper into the case, uncovering multiple contradictions in the DU student’s version of events and identifying old property disputes between Khan’s relatives and the families of the accused men.

What Really Happened During the Alleged Acid Attack

The alleged attack was reported around 10:52 am on Sunday, when the girl, on her way to college, claimed that three men threw acid on her. She also stated that one of them had been stalking her for over a year.A case was immediately registered, and police began a full-scale investigation. However, soon several inconsistencies in her account came to light, including discrepancies in timing, witness statements, and CCTV footage.

Police Suspect Self-Inflicted Burns

Investigators now suspect that the girl may have burnt her own hands using a toilet-cleaning liquid to make the attack appear genuine. The medical report is still awaited to confirm this theory.

Sources revealed that none of the accused named by the girl were present at the scene at the time of the supposed incident, further strengthening the suspicion that the acid attack was staged.

A Case That Raises Tough Questions

This incident has left many questioning how easily false allegations can spiral into full-blown criminal cases. It also underscores the need for thorough investigations before jumping to conclusions, especially in sensitive cases involving women’s safety.

As Delhi Police await the final medical and forensic reports, the case serves as a reminder that truth can sometimes be more complicated than it appears, and justice, no matter how delayed, must always be rooted in facts.
