Congress Seeks PM Modi’s Response on Trump Mediation Claim and Internal Security Lapses
As tensions continue to brew over national security and foreign policy matters, the Congress party has stepped up pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking clarifications on two critical fronts: internal security failures in Jammu and Kashmir and comments made by former US President Donald Trump regarding mediation between India and Pakistan.
Questions Raised Over Pahalgam Terror Attack
Following the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress has flagged serious concerns regarding lapses in internal security. The party has made it clear that Prime Minister Modi must be held accountable for security failures that endangered civilian lives in a sensitive region.
Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdhury has officially moved a notice demanding a detailed discussion on what went wrong and how such breaches are still occurring in high-alert zones. This incident has reignited the debate over the government’s preparedness and response to terrorist threats.
Trump’s Mediation Offer Sparks Political Fire
Adding to the growing list of concerns, Congress is also demanding that PM Modi address Donald Trump’s controversial claim that he was invited to mediate a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The opposition party argues that such statements, if true, could potentially undermine India’s long-standing position of bilateral resolution with Pakistan, without third-party interference.
Concerns Over India’s Border Challenges
On the international front, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi expressed alarm over growing threats along India’s borders, especially pointing to the emergence of what he called a “two-front axis” involving China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He emphasized the urgent need for a broader debate in Parliament on India’s defense and foreign policy, especially in light of evolving geopolitical challenges.
This comes as Rajya Sabha MP Syed Naseer Hussain has already filed a notice to discuss voter roll revisions in Bihar, showing that the Congress party is not only focusing on external threats but also on internal democratic processes.
Demand for Parliamentary Debate Intensifies
Ahead of the parliamentary session, the Congress is rallying for an all-party meeting and structured discussions on national security, electoral transparency, and foreign policy. The party has made it clear that accountability from the central government is non-negotiable, especially in matters concerning national interest and civilian safety.
