Governor Kazuo Ueda has taken a cautious approach since leading the BOJ, delivering the bank’s first rate hike in 17 years. Board members Naoki Tamura and Hajime Takata have taken a more hawkish stance, calling for faster hikes. Newer members like Junko Koeda have expressed concern about rising food prices, while Kazuyuki Masu is considered neutral on policy.
