As the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai takes an oath.
On Wednesday, Vishnu Deo Sai was sworn in as the fourth Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other prominent Raipur figures were present at the occasion.
During the first Modi government, Sai, a well-known tribal leader and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), held the position of Union Minister of Steel, Labour, and Employment.

Why is this story important?
Out of the 90 Chhattisgarh assembly seats, the BJP won 54 and the Congress won 35. In one seat, the Gondwana Gantantra Party prevailed.
As tribal leader Sai was named the new state chief by the BJP, outgoing chief minister Bhupesh Baghel conceded defeat and tendered his resignation.
Since the state’s founding on November 1, 2000, Sai is just the fourth chief minister.

In Raipur, Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other high-ranking officials witness BJP leader Vishnu Deo Sai take the oath of office as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.

Deputies CMs Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao take office
In the meantime, Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma took office as Chhattisgarh’s deputy chief ministers.
Notably, in the three states it recently won—Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhatisgarh—the saffron party has announced two deputies.
Sao is the representative for the Lormi Vidhan Sabha seat, and Sharma, who is from the Kabirdham area, represents the Kawardha assembly constituency.

In Raipur, BJP politician Vijay Sharma takes the oath of office as Chhattisgarh’s deputy chief minister in front of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav takes the oath of office
Mohan Yadav was sworn in as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh earlier in the day at Lal Parade Ground.
At the swearing-in event were BJP leader Jagat Prakash Nadda, Amit Shah, and PM Modi.
Additionally, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath of office to Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla.
