Leading members of the National Congress Party (NCP) defected to the Sardar Pawar group on Thursday, with Ajit Gavhane, the president of the Pimpri-Chinchwad unit, saying, “We believe only this party can take Pimpri-Chinchwad and the rest of Maharashtra forward.”
At the Pune home of party president Sharad Pawar, the defectors became members of the NCP(SP).
