The NSE Nifty advanced 19.25 points, or 0.08%, to finish at 24,734.30, while the BSE Sensex jumped 150.30 points, or 0.19%, to settle at 80,718.01.
Here’s how analysts read the market pulse:
After a promising start, the domestic market closed almost flat as profit booking emerged across the market except for consumption-oriented beneficiary sectors such as Auto, Finance, and FMCG, said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments, adding that the in-line outcome of GST rationalisation and ongoing tariff threats from the US exerted a negative impact on the market today.
“Sectors such as Textiles, Equipment Manufacturers, Metals, Auto Ancillaries, Seafood, Basmati, Jewellery, IT, and Pharma are likely to experience more impact, which will be mitigated by an increase in domestic consumption like Durables, Discretionary, Staples, Hotels, FMCG, Electronics, and Autos,” said Nair.

Tech View
The Nifty pared most of its gains after a gap-up start driven by optimism over GST reforms, said Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, adding that the daily close was just below the 21 EMA, indicating a continuation of weakness, although the index appears to be nearing a potential trend reversal.“A decisive move above 24,750 could provide the strength needed for the Nifty to move towards 25,000. A sustained move above 25,000 could trigger a further rally. On the other hand, failure to close above 24,750 within the next two to three days may lead to renewed selling pressure on the index,” said De.Also read | Warren Buffett’s biggest investment isn’t Apple, BofA or Coca-Cola — it’s a stock hidden in plain sight
