Wall Street’s main indexes opened slightly lower on Tuesday, pressured by a rise in longer-dated Treasury bond yields after U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to fire a Federal Reserve governor renewed concerns about the central bank’s independence.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 45.6 points, or 0.10%, at the open to 45,236.83. The S&P 500 fell 3.8 points, or 0.06%, at the open to 6,435.49, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.7 points, or 0.03%, to 21,443.631 at the opening bell.
