Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan began his professional wrestling journey in 1977. But it was his signing with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in December 1983 that catapulted him to global fame. Horseshoe moustache and bandanas formed his trademark look. He was one of the most recognised wrestlers worldwide. He headlined the first eight of the nine editions of the event WrestleMania. He was also the main attraction of the Saturday Night’s Main Event, a series of American professional wrestling TV specials and its spinoff, The Main Event. During the span of his career, Hogan won as many as six World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) championships. In 2005, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Condolences started pouring in as soon as the news of his demise broke.
After his death, WWE released a statement on social media that reads, “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
