Police Case Filed Against Rahul Gandhi Over Alleged Injuries to BJP MPs

A case has been registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi based on a complaint by the BJP, accusing him of causing injuries to two of their Members of Parliament. The incident reportedly occurred during protests held simultaneously by ruling and opposition members near Parliament. BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured in the altercation and are currently hospitalized. Sarangi, aged 69, sustained head injuries after Rajput allegedly fell on him during the scuffle.

Rahul Gandhi faces charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, including causing grievous harm, endangering safety, use of criminal force, and criminal intimidation. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, along with BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, lodged the complaint, further alleging an attempt to murder. According to Thakur, Gandhi’s actions resulted in the injuries, which he claimed occurred while BJP members were peacefully demonstrating outside the Makar Dwar entrance to Parliament.

Sarangi explained that the injuries were caused when he was standing on the stairs, and Rajput fell on him after being pushed by Rahul Gandhi. BJP members have condemned Gandhi’s conduct, describing it as unruly. However, Gandhi has denied the accusations, suggesting that the allegations are intended to divert public attention from controversial remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, have also filed complaints. Kharge claimed that BJP MPs pushed him, leading to injuries to his legs.

In addition, BJP MP Phangnon Konyak from Nagaland has criticized Gandhi for what she described as aggressive behavior during the protest. Konyak stated that Gandhi shouted at her, which she found unbecoming of someone in his position as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. She has filed a complaint with the Rajya Sabha chairman, noting her discomfort with his actions.

The BJP has strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi’s actions, with party leaders visiting the injured MPs in the hospital. In contrast, Congress has labeled the complaints against their leader as politically motivated. The incident has sparked significant political tension, drawing attention to the conduct of elected representatives during public demonstrations.

This case has further intensified the ongoing political debate and rivalry between the BJP and Congress. Both parties have used the incident to accuse each other of misconduct, with each side presenting their narrative to the public and authorities. The matter remains under investigation, and the actions of all involved are being scrutinized. The broader implications of this incident are likely to impact the political discourse in the coming days.
