19-Year-Old ‘Lady Don’ Arrested in Connection with Delhi Murder Case
In a significant development, Delhi Police apprehended a young woman identified as Annu Dhankar, famously known as “Lady Don.” The 19-year-old has been associated with notorious gangster Himanshu Bhau and was linked to the murder of a man named Aman at a popular fast-food restaurant in West Delhi. The incident occurred at the Burger King outlet located in Rajouri Garden, making headlines across the city. Her arrest took place near the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, as confirmed by officials on October 25.
The investigation revealed that Dhankar, originally from Rohtak in Haryana, had been evading capture since the deadly shooting incident on June 18. She was declared a proclaimed offender after Aman was gunned down inside the fast-food establishment. The attackers fired approximately 20-25 bullets at close range, causing Aman’s immediate death. At the time of the attack, the eatery was crowded, with over 50 customers and 10 staff members present.
The investigation into the shooting highlighted Dhankar’s crucial role in orchestrating the crime. It was discovered that she had become acquainted with Aman through social media and had lured him to the restaurant. The police further uncovered that she was inside the Burger King outlet with Aman when the assailants arrived and carried out the shooting. According to the police, Dhankar notified Himanshu Bhau about Aman’s presence, setting the stage for the fatal incident.
Following the murder, Dhankar swiftly left her rented accommodation in Mukherji Nagar, gathering her personal belongings before heading to ISBT Kashmiri Gate. From there, she boarded a bus to Chandigarh and eventually reached Katra via Amritsar, attempting to evade the authorities.
During interrogation, Dhankar disclosed that her connections with the criminal underworld extended beyond the Burger King incident. She had been in touch with both Himanshu Bhau and Sahil Ritolia, who allegedly promised to help her secure a visa and other necessary documents for immigrating to the United States. Her statement to the police suggested that she had been assisting the gang with the hope of obtaining these documents at no personal cost. Dhankar was also linked to another violent incident involving indiscriminate firing at a shop in Gohana.
The police investigation revealed a financial trail showing that Himanshu Bhau had provided Dhankar with funds through a money exchange shop. Her life on the run involved constant movement across different cities and regions, keeping a low profile to avoid detection. On October 22, Bhau instructed her to leave her accommodation, assuring her that the investigation had cooled down and directing her to travel to Lakhimpur Kheri for a planned crossing into Nepal. However, law enforcement officers managed to arrest her before she could escape across the border.
The tragic June 18 shooting had been a planned execution, with three accused arriving at the Burger King outlet on a motorcycle. While one individual waited outside, two others entered the restaurant, targeting Aman with a barrage of bullets. The public nature of the crime and the brazen firing created panic among those present, leading to heightened security concerns in the city.
Dhankar’s arrest marks a significant step forward in the investigation. Law enforcement is hopeful that it will provide more insights into the motives behind the killing and lead to further arrests. The authorities continue to pursue the other suspects involved in the crime, aiming to bring all responsible parties to justice.
The case underscores the growing issue of young individuals getting entangled in organized crime and becoming involved in serious criminal activities. It also highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking down offenders who exploit multiple escape routes and attempt to flee the country. With Dhankar now in custody, the focus shifts to unraveling the broader criminal network and understanding how a young woman became embroiled in such a dangerous lifestyle.
