With the backing of 48 MLAs, the government led by New Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini won the state assembly’s floor test on Wednesday.
Notably, out of the 90 members of the assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party holds 41 seats.
The BJP’s erstwhile ally Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) ordered its MLAs to stay “absent” from the House ahead of the floor test out of concern for poaching.
Five JJP MLAs did, however, take part in the test of strength despite the directive being broken.

Saini replaces Khattar as the new CM
Saini — a MP from Kurukshetra — was confirmed as the new Haryana CM on Tuesday night.
