As chief ministers swear oaths, the Congress explains away the BJP's unorthodox choices
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unexpectedly announced the appointment of new chief ministers for the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.
Mohan Yadav, Vishnu Deo Sai, and Bhajanlal Sharma were named the next chief ministers of these states, respectively.
Everyone was taken aback by the BJP’s choice, particularly the opposition, which had been speculating about the nomination of prominent figures like Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje for the positions.
Congressmen have now explained the rationale behind the BJP’s choice of chief ministers.

Why is this story important?
As two of the three recently chosen chief ministers took an oath on Wednesday, the opposition made their comments.
Yadav and Sai were sworn in as the chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, respectively, in ceremonies that were attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda, and other notable figures.
The state polls act as a yardstick, with Lok Sabha elections scheduled for a few months from now.

CM selections reveal a lack of democracy in the BJP: Manickam Tagore, a Congress MP, criticized the decisions, claiming that “only PM Modi and Shah’s choices matter” and that they demonstrated a lack of democracy inside the party.
Supriya Shrinate, a spokesman for the Congress, asserted that the ruling means that the BJP’s regional satraps and provincial governors will no longer hold office.
It should be noted that all of the recently selected chief ministers have substantial ties to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), even though their ability to rule is still being investigated.

Shrinate, a new CM, will serve as a puppet.
Shrinate said that “democracy has completely ended in the BJP” and that the appointments of CMs mean that elected MLAs’ decisions are meaningless in a lengthy social media post.
She said that everyone who can criticize PM Modi will be dealt with, without naming names.
Similar to what occurred in Gujarat and Assam, Shrinate accused the recently appointed chief ministers of serving as BJP leaders’ pawns at the federal level.

Congress distributes the contentious video of Raje.
A video of Raje and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh chatting was shared by Congressman Srinivas BV separately, right before Sharma’s appointment as the new chief minister of Rajasthan was revealed.
Raje can be seen conversing with Singh and opening a chit in the video. Raje was astonished to learn that there were rumors that the chit included Sharma’s name.
But according to Singh, Bhajanlal’s name had been suggested by Vasundhara Raje.
