Russia denies the 'hoax' that Putin is unwell by employing body duplicates.
The Kremlin has dismissed recent claims about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s supposed ill health as a “absurd hoax,” claiming that he is in good health.
Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, also denied that Putin used body doubles.
This happened after an unconfirmed story by a Russian Telegram channel, which was also published by several Western media sites, stated that Putin, who turned 71 on October 7, had a catastrophic health event on Sunday night.

A complaint on a Telegram channel recounts an alleged health issue.
The Telegram channel “General SVR” allegedly said that about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday (Moscow time), Putin’s security officers detected noises and sounds of falling things from the president’s bedroom.
“Two security officers immediately followed into the president’s bedroom and saw Putin lying on the floor next to the bed and an overturned table with food and drinks,” according to the report.
It went on to say that Putin appeared to be having convulsions and rolling his eyes, prompting physicians on duty at the mansion to be summoned.

Putin’s recent itinerary and past body denials
Following these unconfirmed reports, the Kremlin stated that Putin was in good health.
Meanwhile, Putin maintains a busy schedule of meetings and public events, many of which are broadcast. His most recent journey was to China last week. On his way back, he also stopped in two Russian cities.
In a 2020 interview, Putin denied long-standing accusations that he used doppelgangers, but he did confess to being offered the possibility to utilize one for security concerns.

In April, the Kremlin reaffirmed Putin’s “enviable health.”
Earlier in April 2003, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called body double rumors “another falsehood” and emphasized that President Putin was in fine health.
The latest denial of both health speculation and body double accusations demonstrates Russia’s commitment to maintaining the image of a vigorous and busy leader, despite persistent suspicions and unsubstantiated information to the contrary.
Similar rumors erupted last November after the British newspaper Daily Mail reported on Putin’s “bloated and pallid” appearance.
