RBI approves Debasish Panda’s name as next Bandhan Bank chairman – News Air Insight

Kolkata: The Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday approved the appointment of Debasish Panda as part-time chairman of Bandhan Bank for a period of three years from the date of taking charge.

Panda, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre and a former chairman of Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India, will replace the current incumbent Anup Kumar Sinha, who held this position since the bank’s inception in August 2015.

RBI gave its prior approval towards Panda’s appointment responding to Bandhan Bank’s application, the bank said in a stock exchange filing. The bank board will consider the date of the appointment in due course, it said.

As secretary of the Department of Financial Services between 202 and 2022, Panda led banking consolidations, promoted financial inclusion and managed COVID-19 financial responses. He also held the position of director on the boards of Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Life Insurance Corporation of India.
