Ghaziabad: A 30-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering her husband over a domestic dispute in their house at Khoda on March 31 night, said a police officer.

The accused was identified as a native of Farrukhabad and the deceased was identified as a 35-year-old. The couple married 11 years ago and has two minor children, aged nine and six.

According to the police, on March 31, the couple was alone at their home and had an altercation.

“During the dispute, the deceased was in an inebriated state, and his wife smothered him to death. Since the man had drinks, he could not resist. Later, his family rushed him to a local hospital and later to a hospital in Delhi, where he was declared dead,” said Abhishek Srivastava, assistant commissioner of police (Indirapuram circle), told HT.

Brother of the deceased, who lives nearby, stated in the FIR, “My brother and his wife used to have frequent fights. On the night of the incident, their son came running to our house and told me that his mother strangled his father and we rushed him to the hospital.”

An FIR was registered against the woman under BNS section 103(1) for murder at Khoda police station on April 2. She was arrested on Thursday (from the Itwar Pushta area in Khoda), the ACP added.

“The couple often had frequent fights, and it again happened on the day of the incident. The woman told the police that she was fed up with frequent quarrels, so she decided to take the drastic step,” the officer said, adding that the autopsy of the deceased indicated he was smothered.
