Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 88.56 points up at 24666.9 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.
However, stocks such as Raymond, Godha Cabcon & Insul, Career Point, Aether Industries and Jai Balaji Inds, touched their fresh 52-week lows.
Overall, 38 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 12 closed in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Shriram Finance, BEL, Hindalco and Eternal were among top gainers during the day, while Asian Paints, Cipla, Tata Motors, Kotak Bank and NTPC ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex closed 182.34 points up at 81330.56. Traders piled up positions in IT Enabled Services, General, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail and Auto sectors, while selling was witnessed in Textiles, Aquaculture, Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock, Airlines and Building Materials sectors during the day.
